...The hair-curling, heart-stopping, wild ending is blood chilling. I put on a sweater, lit the fireplace, and so help me, I think my permanent got curlier.

About The Gallows Ghost

Howard Hopkins, writing as Lance Howard, has just stepped on Stephen King's toes, in my opinion. Gallow's Ghost is creepy and inventive. Two ingredients I've only found in reading Kings books so far. This is meant as a high compliment from this reviewer. I couldn't put this book down. Mr. Howard has succeeded in "boogering" me yet again. With his spellbinding dialogue, and his spectacular imagination, he's created a horrifying ride into the unknown. If you've never read one of Mr. Howards books before, I can only ask you, what are you waiting for? Grab one now before the big New York publishers snatch him up and you can't afford them anymore. And start with Gallow's Ghost!

...one to keep the reader spellbound. The confrontation between the chosen good and evil is classic but bits and pieces are revealed in a way that the reader will not know what to expect. GRIMM is a perfect name for this chilling horror tale.

About The Dark Riders

The book holds the reader in its spell from the first paragraph to the last line. I don't think I've ever read anything that held my attention any better than this one. A definite keeper...please keep writing.

Horror fans will enjoy this western vampire story. Milus Clint could give Dracula a few pointers in being mean and evil. This story will send chills down your spine and make the hair on the back of your neck rise.

Brenda Gill, Simply Ebooks

Howard Hopkins has a nice fluid style that carries the reader along with the story, and his grasp on descriptive prose takes you to scenes, normal and horrific, with a clarity that grips your attention...one I'd recommend to people who like the paranormal with a touch of horror and a bit of romance...4 1/2 stars

About Dark Harbors...

Mr. Hopkins is in the running for the title of Michael Angelo of word painters. I got so involved in his beautiful phrasing I almost forgot to be frightened by his flawless prose...I read the book twice trying to decide which of the stories was my favorite...they will either make you sigh or leave the lights on all night and shudder at every sound.

If you like your prose elegant, your fear factor off the chart, and want a good read, DARKHARBORS is the book for you.
